Public Schools

Berkeley County School District Berkeley County School System is home to 19 elementary schools, 3 intermediate schools, 8 middle schools, and 8 high schools. Their vision is to challenge and empower students to be successful in a highly competitive world. During the 2011-2012 school year, the Berkeley County School District received many notable awards and achievements. 72% of their schools achieved Palmetto Gold and Silver Awards, Marrington Middle School of Arts was the only school in the state in the past decade to be nominated as National Blue Ribbon School of Excellence, and Berkeley Elementary was one of 25 agencies in the nation to be selected as a National School of Character.

Charleston County School District Charleston County School District is the second largest school system in South Carolina serving approximately 45,000 students in 80 separate schools and several specialized programs. Charleston County Schools operates on the belief statement that, "With high expectations, proper supports, and effective teaching, all students will graduate from high school prepared to succeed in college and the 21st century workforce." Under the leadership of Superintendent Dr. Nancy McGinley, appointed by the Board in 2007, the CCSD has seen significant progress in the last five years. For the third year in a row, CCSD's 3rd-8th graders received higher "exemplary" marks on the PASS test than their state peers in every grade and subject tested, and 45% of CCSD's students attend "excellent" rated schools, which is over twice the state average of 20%.

Dorchester County School 2 Dorchester School District Two is dedicated to the belief that student achievement is the result of academic rigor and dedicated teachers and staff. We are proud to serve over 22,000 students in our 21 schools. The 12 elementary schools, 6 middle schools, and 3 high schools that make up the district school system are all accredited by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools. The district also operates an alternative program at Givhans School. Having received multiple awards and national recognitions in the past several years, the school has continued to remain in the top ten districts in academic achievement out of the 85 in the state of South Carolina.

Dorchester County 4 School District Dorchester 4 serves approximately 2600 students in five thriving schools which includes two elementary schools, two middle schools, and one high school. The elementary program is designed to give students a firm foundation in reading, math, sciences, social studies, and life skills. The middle school curriculum is focused on math and reading while incorporating exploratory offerings and a strong career decision-making focus. The secondary program not only provides a comprehensive educational program but emphasizes meeting the diverse student needs. Dorchester County District 4 also offers college preparatory courses, honors/advanced placement, technical preparatory, and occupational courses.
